About Paul Savramis

Paul SavramisPaul Savramis uses the power of teams to effectively bring out the best in today’s youth. In creating Rising Stars, Savramis developed an innovative program that brings young people together in a competitive environment. With Rising Stars, Paul Savramis has taken the concept of summer basketball camps and developed that into a year-round experience, giving kids and teens an environment in which they can learn and grow.

Founded in 1996, Rising Stars has gained national attention for its commitment to excellence, including acknowledgment of its achievements from the President of the United States, Paul Savramis says. According to Paul Savramis, New York’s governor also recognized the organization, bestowing a commendation of excellence to Paul Savramis and his executive team at Rising Stars. Paul Savramis has also received individual recognition from the United Way, which gave him a humanitarian award for the positive ethics Rising Stars bestows on young participants.

Paul Savramis began his work with youth as the founder and influential leader of the Eastern Invitational Basketball Camps. These camps quickly gained national regard for the impact they had on youth sports, and young people throughout the country lined up to get into the program Paul Savramis had created. Paul Savramis and the staff at Eastern Invitational also provided annual in-depth instruction in other sports such as tennis, soccer and a surfing camp in California.

During this time, Paul Savramis began to network with others in the industry. Eventually, Paul Savramis was able to leverage this network to land big names like Magic Johnson, Charles Barkley and Larry Bird, all of whom made appearances at summer camps hosted by Paul Savramis. The coach lineups at the summer camps founded by Paul Savramis was impressive as well, including current Chicago Bulls coach Tom Thibedeau, Arizona coach Sean Miller and the late coaching legend, Jim Valvano.

Paul Savramis holds a master’s degree in physical education with minors in both special education and child psychology. His formal education has given Paul Savramis a well-rounded approach as a summer camp coach, which helps him enrich children – not only athletically, but mentally as well.
